POSITION TITLE:  Assistant Track Coach                            DEPARTMENT:  Athletic/Activities

REPORTS TO:  Athletic Director/Principal

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport. Confluence Preparatory Academy utilizes off site facilities for both practices and games.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  include the following.  Other duties may be assigned

  • Attends organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential students to participate in the sport
  • Assesses player’s skills and makes suggestions
  • Implements a regular practice schedule that provides practice time for both individual and team development
  • Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, safety, and character development needed to succeed
  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student
  • Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury
  • Models positive sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance
  • Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms
  • Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the school principal, athletic director, or other appropriate administrators.

Education/Experience:  A minimum of three years relevant coaching experience

Certification:  Valid Teaching Certificate,  OR Four-Year College Degree, OR serving as an approved Assistant Coach for a minimum of two school years

Language Skills:    Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

Other Skills and Abilities:  Must be able to transport between school buildings and cities.
