POSITION TITLE: Cheerleader Coach (Elementary) DEPARTMENT: Athletic/Activities
REPORTS TO: Activities/Athletic Director & Principal
POSITION SUMMARY: Position is responsible for coaching elementary students in sideline cheering techniques and competition. Position motivates students to develop an appreciation positive crowd response, appropriate cheers for game situations, creative movement, and sportsmanship. This role would require planning with the Athletic/Activities Director or their designee for competitive and/or recreational opportunities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Attends organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential students to participate in the sport
- Confirm all students meet minimum standards to participate
- Assesses player’s skills and makes suggestions
- Implements a regular practice schedule that provides practice time for both individual and team development
- Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, safety, and character development needed to succeed
- Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, etc.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- Requires willingness to learn and teach a variety of positive cheers and age-appropriate movement
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES which may be representative but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
- Goal setting
- Ability to comprehend product manuals, memos, letters and correspondence and share information in one-on-one or group situations
- Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to operate a personal computer and basic office software
